Reflections of 2018

Updated: Jan 1, 2019

Although this blog has only been live for the last quarter of the year, I thought it prudent to reflect on how far we have come along and what my plans are for the future.

2018 was the year I embraced Underworlds fully and am very happy I decided to dive head first into the game. Honestly, it all happened so fast. I was mindlessly scrolling through Facebook one random day and saw that a local game store was hosting a quarterly tournament. I thought to myself, I can win that. (Honestly, I had no idea what I was thinking. I hadn't kept up with the game, let alone played a game since January) With six days to prepare, I bought the four remaining warbands I didn't own and found a local group to practice with. 4 practice games and a tournament later, I got myself a piece of Shadeglass with my trusty (meta) Farstriders. However more importantly, I rediscovered my love for the game.

Then Hexes and Warbands happened.

Honestly, that too started on a whim. I had always wanted to start a general hobby blog but launching a Underworlds specific one was a bold move in my opinion. I want to thank John Rees from 'Can You Roll a Crit' for being my main source of inspiration. His was the first blog I discovered and accelerated my understanding of the game significantly.

When the blog happened, I figured I would get a couple views here and there but I didn't think I would be getting them in the hundreds. My top (and fourth) article, Top Cards Post BAR List, hit over 800 views! When I saw that I was able impact that many fellow gamers, it really made me want to go all in on this.

I guess what I am really trying to say is thank you. Thank you to my friends and family who supported me since this blog's inception. Thank you to all the existing bloggers and community members who inspired me to follow my dreams and start this darn thing. And lastly, and perhaps most importantly, thank you to my readers who continue to motivate me everyday to not only pump out some quality content, but be a better player as well.

I am excited for what 2019 has in store. I plan on taking the blog up another notch and post quality articles that cover all aspects of the hobby. Whether you are a freshly entering the game or a seasoned veteran, my hope and charter is to positively impact you in some way.

Cheers to 2018 and cheers to the Underworlds community. I can't wait to see what 2019 has in store for us. (I’m beyond hyped for the Sylvaneth warband!)

Have fun and be safe tonight.

Happy New Year,

Aman
